Since it has been so cold lately, Heidi and I decided to base out meeting around winter weather. At one station, we made penguins out of toilet paper rolls, while doing this I explained how we are working towards our Use Resources Wisely petal. At Heidi's station, the girls cut out snowflakes, listened to a story and learned a new game called "Move Your Buns". At our last station, the girls learned about a great organization called Color A Smile. They are a non profit company who collects crayon drawings from school children. Every month they distribute these drawings to Nursing Homes, Meals on Wheels Programs, Children's Hospitals, Veteran's Hospitals and many more places all across the country. Their goal is to make people smile! By coloring these pages, our girls moved even closer to achieving their Caring and Considerate Petal.
We ended our meeting with a yummy snack and a delicious cupcake celebrating Kate and Emma's birthday.
In case you missed the sign up sheet, Our girls were happy to be back with their Daisy sisters on Friday! After starting the meeting with our normal Flag ceremony, we shared our favorite parts of Christmas and Winter Break. Seems like we had a lot of busy families over break!

In case you missed the sign up sheet when you dropped off your daughter(s), Our troop is attending the Girl Scout World Thinking Day on Saturday, February 26 at Concord High School from 9:30-12:30. The theme is "Empowering Girls Will Change Our World" The cost is $5 per child. (This cost covers entrance, drinks, and a patch) If you plan on attending with your child, please bring your payment to our next meeting and give to Heidi. Checks should be made payable to Diablo Shadows.
Also, this summer the Girl Scouts run a day camp that is open to all ages. You should have received a post card in the mail but if you did not and you are interested please go to www.diablodaycamp.org. Registration for Diablo Day Camp is due very soon! It is a lottery system, and our troop does not go together, but our Daisies can request one friend to go with them. Registration needs to be received by Feb. 1st.
Thank you all for your continued support and we will see you on Jan. 21!
